[St John's Newfoundland, Canada] Hey! Ho! Homophobia has got to go! That was the message shouted out to downtown St. John's this afternoon as the lesbian, bi-sexual, gay and transgendered (LBGT) community held their annual Pride Parade, Drag Race and barbeque. More than 150 people from and in support of the LBGT community marched through the downtown cheering as passing motorists honked and walkers clapped, cheered, whistled and joined in the annual parade. The walk, which was held to wrap up St. John's annual pride week, started at City Hall with words of support from NDP Leader Lorraine Michaels and the Young Liberals of Canada, who participated as a part of the Atlantic caucus meetings this week. The young Liberals all wore pink shirts asking "How big is your cauc-ass? It's not the size that matters … but how you use it," to encourage political support from Canada's minority government for LBGT rights. The march wrapped up after a loop around Water Street back to Scotia Place, where the annual Drag Races took place. Participants took home prizes after a three-legged race and best catwalk before the barbecue got started around the corner at the Eastern Edge Gallery. Source: The Telegram
