Body found may be Andrew Koenig: police

Update 6:00 P.M.

Andrew Koenig committed suicide says father

"Vancouver police say a body has been discovered and that it could be that of missing actor Andrew Koenig," reports the CBC. "Police were to release more details at a news conference later Thursday and said Koenig's family would be present. Koenig, 41, disappeared on Feb. 14 and is best known for his Richard "Boner" Stabone role in the 1980s sitcom Growing Pains.

Andrew Koenig's Body Believed to Have Been Found
"Vancouver Police are investigating the discovery of a body found in Stanley Park around noon [Thursday]," police said in a statement. "The body is believed to be that of Andrew Koenig."

Mounted officers had been searching the park, which Koenig was known to have frequented. The announcement came a day after Koenig's father, Star Trek star Walter Koenig, made an emotional televised plea to his son to let the family know he was okay.

The younger Koenig, who played Kirk Cameron's pal Boner on the hit '80s sitcom, had long battled depression, his family said. He had cleared out his Los Angeles apartment about three weeks ago before traveling to Vancouver, where he once lived.
