California Musical Theatre's artistic director, Scott Eckern quits in fallout from his support of Prop. 8

I can't believe this guy is expressing shock that gays are upset with him for donating money to support Prop 8. He's an artistic director in musical theatre! He has a lesbian sister! He must know many gay people! Why would he deny them the same civil rights that straight people enjoy everyday? Unbelievable.

The Sacramento Bee reports:
California Musical Theatre's artistic director, Scott Eckern (pictured), resigned from his post today amid controversy over a donation he made to the Proposition 8 campaign to ban gay marriage. Eckern gave $1,000 in support of Proposition 8, a donation that sparked criticism from theater workers and the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. READ MORE
